Jacob represents clients in a wide range of civil and commercial litigation matters, including medical malpractice, employment law, premises liability, and professional liability defense.

Prior to joining Burford & Ryburn, Jacob served as Assistant University Counsel to Southern Methodist University. Drawing from his knowledge and experience as Assistant University Counsel, Jacob provides counseling and legal services uniquely tailored to higher education clients. This includes counseling on issues such as Title IX compliance, federal regulatory compliance, campus political activity, student activity release/waivers, the Clery Act, campus police matters, FERPA, hazing, student conduct and discipline, faculty and staff employment, ADA compliance, animals on campus, university policy development and revision, Constitutional issues, and Texas Public Information Act compliance. Jacob's passion for higher education has extended to the classroom, where he has assisted in teaching a graduate level course entitled "Legal Issues in Higher Education" at Southern Methodist University.

Additionally, as a member of the Association of Title IX Administrators ("ATIXA"), Jacob provides independent Title IX and civil rights investigations for higher education clients. His primary focus in conducting an investigation is to collect the facts in a manner that is sensitive to the delicate circumstances giving rise to each investigation.
